Bhubaneswar, July 17:
The Odisha Assembly witnessed noisy scenes during the Zero Hour as members of the Congress and the BJP rushed into the well of the House shouting slogans demanding a statement from the chief minister over the alleged child sale case in Bhubaneswar and on prohibition, stalling proceedings for some time. The speaker had to adjourn the House for ten minutes.
Congress MLA from Jharsuguda sought rulings from the speaker on the alleged child sale in Bhubaneswar and the government taking cabinet decisions without taking the House into confidence while it’s in session. He said the decision of the government was undemocratic.
Congress chief whip Taraprasad Bahinipati, who is known for his outbursts in the assembly, sought a direction from the speaker to the chief minister to issue a statement on the alleged child sale in the capital city. He said; “Speaker. Sir. You can either seek a statement on the matter from the chief minister by issuing a ruling or you can throw me out of the House. The option is yours”.
BJP members too demanded a statement from the chief minister on prohibition in the state.
