Nayagarh, Aug 22:

The Ranpur Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) court today allowed the Odisha Crime Branch to take four persons accused in the Chandpur quadruple murder case on a remand of 4 days.

The four accused– M Ramesh, J Jaykrushna, Krushna Das and Pradeep Behera– were arrested on August 19 from Ganjam and Jajpur.

The gruesome incident had taken place on September 6, 2014. Four persons of a family were found dead inside their house at Shastri Nagar in Chandpur under Ranpur police limits in Nayagarh district. The incident came to light when Sarat Patra, working in a hotel in Bhubaneswar, arrived at his house in the evening and found it locked from outside.

After succeeding to enter the house through the back door, he found his father Kasinath, wife Suchitra, son Niti Sagar and daughter Sagarika lying on the blood-soaked floor.

While the assailants had slit open the throat of Kasinath and Suchitra, the two children had been strangulated.
