Commissionerate police on Monday forwarded three persons arrested yesterday on charge of gang raping a woman of Saliasahi slum to the local court here.
The three men had allegedly gang raped the women at Chandaka forest after giving her a ride in an autorickshaw.
The accused identified as Brundaban Patnaik of Ranapur, Prasanta Das of Nimapada and Sudarshan Reddy of Saliasahi slum were booked under section 506, 376 (D) and 294 of IPC, police sources said.
According to Inspector-in-charge of Mahila police station Sujata Panda, a medical test was conducted on the arrested persons yesterday night after they were interrogated.
Police said one of the three arrested accused was an auto rickshaw driver, who had taken the victim to Khandagiri on the plea of dropping her at her destination. Instead of dropping the victim at the place, the auto driver took her towards Chandaka forest. On the way, he picked up the other two and proceeded to Chandaka where all three raped the woman. They also threatened the woman of dire consequences if she divulged any details to the police after they left her at Saliasahi slum.
Yesterday night, the victim somehow reached the Mahila police station and filed an FIR about the incident. Acting on her complaint, the police nabbed the accused and seized the auto used in the crime. Late,r both the accused and the victim were sent to the Capital hospital for medical examination.
