The 35th edition of the Champions Trophy men’s hockey tournament would be held at Kalinga Stadium in the capital city here December 13 to 21 next year.
The eight top teams— Argentina, Australia, Belgium, England, Germany, India, Netherlands and Pakistan— would take part in the event which would be jointly hosted by Hockey India and the Odisha government.
The Kalinga stadium will have two astro-turfs of which one is ready while work on the other is underway ahead of the marquee tournament.
The Odisha government has assured Hockey India to complete the entire construction work by June next year.
It may be mentioned that a delegation of the International Hockey Federation (FIH) had recommended Bhubaneswar as the venue for the championship during its visit to the Kalinga stadium earlier this year.
The delegation was impressed with the infrastructure facilities in the stadium.
