A four-member Central team left for Odisha’s Sambalpur this morning for selection of two sites for the proposed Indian Institute of Management (IIM).
The team is comprised of Sailendra Kumar, director of management of Union HRD ministry, Rishikesh P Krishan, director, IIM, Indore, Umesh Swain, chief engineer, CPWD and secretary Employment and Technical Education (ET&T), Asit Tripathy.
According to reports, Sailendra Kumar and Rishikesh P Krishan from New Delhi and Indore respectively arrived at the Biju Patnaik International Airport in Bhubaneswar at 7.30 AM.
After a brief stay at the State Guest House, the team, accompanied by the CPWD chief engineer and ET &T secretary, left for Sambalpur.
The team, while visiting the two sites identified by the state government, will study the availability of existing infrastructure in the city, existing well-known business establishments and mega industries, communication network and facilities for the IIM staff.
The team after the review, would submit its report to the Centre.
On the basis of the report, the Centre will take a final decision on setting up of the proposed institute.
The state government had requested the ministry to send its site selection committee to visit the proposed site.
