Bhubaneswar, July 31:

The Central Empowered Committee (CEC) would begin hearing the Odisha mining scam case from August 5.

The first phase of hearing would be held from August 5 to 8 while the second hearing is scheduled on August 12 in which the Committee would conduct hearing of 187 leaseholders in the presence of senior officials of the Odisha government.

Sources said that the state government is most likely to submit additional facts sought by the committee on Wednesday.

  1. After the shutdown of Odisha mines, Odisha Govt. is losing its revenue and people who depend on mines for livelihood are in big trouble. Also the mine owners who have plants, they are suffering too while running their plants& also the public who depend directly or indirectly on them are also suffering. So the CEC team should find ways of sorting out the matter without recommending a shutdown of mines in Odisha. In this case the CM Naveen Pattanaik of Odisha also needs to intervene to do his best to help the suffering public of odisha.
