Bhubaneswar, Dec 22:
“The tendering process has already been completed for procurement of these cameras. To carry out the project successfully we have short-listed six national and international level agencies initially”, said Odisha State Police Housing and Welfare Corporation CMD Satyajit Mohanty.
Preparations are in the final stages to install 100 CCTV cameras, in the first phase, at nearly 30 sensitive places in the capital city by March, 2014, Mohanty added.
Rs 20 crore will be spent for the CCTV project, sources said.
For transmission and monitoring of footage of the CCTV cameras, a state-of-the-art monitoring centre would be set up at the Police Commissionerate building for a round-the-clock surveillance of the footage, sources added.
These close circuit cameras will be installed at strategic locations like Governor House, PCR vans, railway station, air port, bus stand, parks and major traffic squares.
Other sensitive places in the city will have CCTV cameras in a phased manner, sources said.
