Bhubaneswar, Feb 6 :
As anticipated, the DSP ( Special Squad) of the state Crime Branch Pramod Panda who has been accused of threatening the petitioner in the chit fund case in the Supreme Court Alok Jena with ‘physical elimination’ has been placed under suspension.
The suspension order signed on Wednesday night and issued today says Panda has been suspended under Rule 12(1) of the Odisha Civil Services (Control & Appeal Rules, 1962) pending inquiry against him.
Panda’s headquarters during his period of suspension has been fixed at Cuttack. The order further says he will be under the disciplinary control of the Additional Director General, CID, CB.
However, the reason why a senior police officer was suspended pending inquiry is not clear. Sources said, the suspension order was issued in a hurry after ‘pressures from the top’.
