Bhubaneswar, Dec 22:
In yet another jolt to Odisha cadre IPS Satish Gajbhiye- the suspended former Kendrapara SP, the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) today rejected his three petitions challenging departmental proceedings against him, sources said.
Gajbhiye had moved the CAT challenging his suspension by the state government.
The CAT while rejecting his three petitions has asked the suspended IPS officer to file a counter with his department within 15 days.
Gajbhiye was suspended on August 13 for alleged police excesses on the public during a demonstration at Kendrapara against Sarathi Baba on August 7 and later extended his suspension by another six months on November 9.
The former Kendrapara SP was also embroiled in controversy over grabbing of government land in Gop block of Puri district apart from the Sarathi Baba issue.
Gajbhiye had purchased 7.6 acres of land in Badakiapala mouza under Gop block in his wife Ranjana Gajbhiye’s name.
Following allegations that Gajbhiye had dug up ponds on the said land including allegedly encroached government land and had undertaken fish farming, the Vigilance department had conducted an inquiry.
Preliminary estimates of the inquiry have revealed that 22.59 acres of government land was encroached upon.
The Union government on October 20 had confirmed the suspension of the IPS officer in conformity with the All India Service Rules.
