Cuttack, May 14:
The student of School of Nursing at SCB Medical College and Hospital, who had levelled allegations of ill-treatment and casteist remark against the principal of the institute, today met Cuttack Collector seeking action against the principal.
The students pressed for either transfer or suspension of the principal and requested the collector to take necessary action to revoke the sine die order.
“The principal manhandled a student and made casteist remarks. We are seeking action against her. Instead of taking disciplinary action against the principal, SCB authorities closed the college sine die. They also tried put pressure on us to take back our complaint,” said a nursing student.
“Today, we met the Collector on this context and submitted a memorandum seeking action against the principal and requested him to do the necessary to revoke the sine die order. We would continue our agitation after returning to our hostel, if action is not taken against her,” she added.
The Collector assured the students to look into the matter.
Later in the day, another 10 students filed complaints against the principal in Mangalabag police alleging that they had been assaulted by her on various occasions.
