Cash seized from BJD leader’s vehicle

Police seized cash worth Rs 67,500 from the vehicle of a local BJD leader on Monday night.

“The police, while checking vehicles at Bileipada under Champua Assembly constituency, seized the cash from the vehicle of Girija Shankar Sahu, a local BJD leader”, said Joda IIC Saroj Kumar Mohapatra.

On the other hand, Sahu has clarified that he was carrying the cash for his business after withdrawing the amount from the bank.

It may be mentioned that the BJD supremo and chief minister Naveen Patnaik had called Sahu and some senior party leaders to Naveen Niwas in Bhubaneswar last week.

In another incident, a flying squad, led by Ajay Kumar Behera, seized cash worth Rs 53,400 from the Congress party office at Kathapala under Champua constituency on Monday.

The squad, during the search, seized the cash from the party office, Behera said.
