Dhenkanal, Sep 8:
Forest department officials today recovered a carcass of an elephant calf from a pond near Bampha village under Hindol forest range in Odisha’s Dhenkanal district this morning.
Locals spotted the carcass floating in the pond this morning and informed the Forest department about it. Officials rushed to the spot and recovered the body.
The officials suspected that the calf, aged between 6 months-1 year, might have got trapped in mud while drinking water from the pond last night which led to the death of the baby elephant.
