Carcass of a leopard was recovered from Rashpur forest under Raighar block in Nabarangpur district of Odisha on Monday, a day after one Rupasingh Ganda (45) of Taraidihi village under Khuduku panchayat in the block was critically injured in leopard attack while grazing cattle in the forest.


The cause of death of the wild animal is yet to be ascertained.

According to reports, Rupasingh encountered a leopard on Sunday afternoon while grazing cattle in the forest and was brutally attacked by the wild animal.

Buffaloes grazing nearby attacked the animal following which it fled away leaving the victim in a critical condition.

Later, he was rescued by villagers and admitted to Hatabharandi Community Health Centre (CHC).

On the other hand, forest officials recovered body of a leopard from Rashpur forest after nearby residents informed about the carcass lying there.

It is suspected that the same animal had attacked Rupasingh.

Investigations were on to find out the cause of the death.
