Carcass of tusker found in Odisha

Athagarh, Mar 25:

The decomposed body of an 25 year-old elephant with its tusks sawn off has been found in Hatimundia area in Khuntuni Range of Athgarh district of Odisha, today.

Miscreants have killed the tusker and cut off its tusks, according to forest department sources.

Cuttack City DFO, Athagarh DFO and Ranger of Khuntuni Forest Range have reached the spot for investigation.

Notably, carcasses of two elephants were found in a field near Kushapangi forest under Athagarh Forest Division in Odisha’s Cuttack district on March 20.

Local villagers had found the bodies of a female elephant and a calf near the forest.
