Activists of Biju Yuva Janata Dal (BYJD) and Biju Chhatra Janata continued with their dharna at the railway station here for the third day today to protest against the Centre’salleged neglect of Odisha in the Union railway budget.
Agitators condemned the NDA government for its step motherly attitude towards Odisha in strong words.
They said while the state government had raised a demand for Rs 3,160 crore for the development of railways in Odisha, the Centre had allocated only Rs 1,420 crore for Odisha in the 2014-15 railway budget.
“Odisha has been a subject of neglect both by the earlier UPA government and the present NDA government as well,” said Soubhagya Ranjan Nayak, president, BYJD, Bargarh.
Biju Chhatra Janata district president Prateek Jhawar and former district president Prabhat Aditya Mishra were also present at the dharna.
Similar protests were also held by BYJD and Biju Chhatra Janata members and supporters in Nuapada in front of the collector’s office.
