Soro: A woman died and as many as 40 persons sustained injuries after a bus carrying around 60 pilgrims overturned on NH-16 near Panapana village under Khantapada police limits in Odisha’s Balasore district this morning.
According to reports, the mishap took place around 6 am when the ill-fated bus was on the way to Dhamnagar in Bhadrak district from Howrah in West Bengal carrying the pilgrims to a shrine.
A pickup van came in front of the moving bus following which the driver of the bus lost control over the wheels as a result of which it turned turtle killing a woman on the spot and injuring others.
The deceased has been identified as Naseer Begum (45). The injured ones were rescued by police, Fire personnel and locals. They were admitted to Soro and Khantapada hospitals for treatment.
