Brother-sister duo killed, 2 critical as ambulance hits truck in Odisha

Soro: In a tragic incident, a brother-sister duo died and two others sustained critical injuries after an ambulance hit a stationary truck on NH-16 near Soro police station in Odisha’s Balasore district early this morning.

The deceased have been identified as Bulbul Biwi (40) and her brother Sheikh Lika, both hailing from Mirzapur area under Egra police limits in West Bengal.

According to reports, the mishap took place when Sheikh was taking his sister Bulbul, who was suffering from brain tumour, to the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack in an ambulance. They were accompanied by two of their relatives.

The ill-fated ambulance dashed into a truck which was parked on road near Soro. While the two siblings died on the spot, their relatives sustained grievious injuries and were hospitalised.

The driver of the ambulance absconded following the road accident. Police have started investigation into the incident.
