A 22-year-old woman pursuing her degree course at National Institute of Fashion and Technology (NIFT) here encountered two unsocial elements who followed her and tried to snatch her mobile phone.

“Two motorcycle-borne miscreants misbehaved with me and tried to snatch my mobile phone while I was returning from college. They waylaid me near Institute of Minerals and Materials Technology (IMMT), Acharya Vihar in the city and tried to misbehave with me. When I did not respond to them, they tried to snatch my mobile phone. I pounced on one of the miscreants and pulled him down from the bike,” Budhimati Rao, the complainant told in her complaint with Saheed Nagar police station.

However, the duo managed to run away from the spot leaving their two-wheeler behind seeing the passersby rushing to the spot, she added.

Meanwhile, the police have started investigating into the matter by registering a case and have seized the motor cycle bearing registration- OR-02-AN-0791.

  1. These days mobile phones have become so cheap, a criminal may not risk a crime to snatch a phone. Molestation could be the sole motive of the offenders which again is not as big a crime as compared to rape or murder.
