Bhubaneswar, Jan 23:
A Mumbai-bound GoAir flight from the Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) in Odisha capital made an emergency landing at Nagpur airport today following a bomb scare on the plane.
The passengers on-board the flight G8 243 were deplaned and safety checks were carried out at the Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport in Nagpur to rule out any eventuality.
The CISF personnel accompanied by dog squad checked the flight at the Nagpur airport to trace any suspicious object. However, no such suspicious article was found on the plane, sources said.
According to airport sources, the Mumbai-bound flight carrying 155 passengers took off from here at 8.20 am this morning. Moments later, an unidentified caller called up the BPIA authorities and told them that bombs have been planted in all flights leaving the city airport.
The call made by the caller identifying himself as Mohapatra put the authorities on their toes prompting them to put the flights on hold.
An Indigo flight scheduled to leave BPIA was delayed after the bomb scare.
The authorities conducted a thorough check of the flights here following which several flights were delayed.
The authorities are of the view that it could be a hoax call, sources added.
Meanwhile, Airfield police have begun investigation into the case after a case was filed with it.
