Bodies of four missing persons found in Odisha forest

Police has detained four persons for interrogation in connection with the recovery of bodies of four persons buried in a pit inside the Mankadchuaan forested area under Badagada police limits in Bhanjanagar area of Odisha’s Ganjam district.

The recovered bodies have been identified by the police. While three are men, one is a woman and all of them hail from Goudagotha Mankadchuaan village.

They are Bhima Gamang, his wife Jaani Gamang, Dambaru Gamang and Ananda Raita. They were missing from their homes for the last two days.

They are suspected to have been murdered before being buried in the pit. While two of the deceased are from one family, the other two are from another family.

“We have received information on four persons having been buried under the earth after being murdered. Police has seized four bodies. The bodies are being sent for post-mortem. We have detained four persons on suspicion. They are being interrogated. The exact reason will be known after interrogation is complete. Prima facie we suspect that the four have been murdered over an illicit relationship. Since it is a sensitive issue it won’t be proper to tell anything on the basis of preliminary investigations. Primarily it suggests of murders over an illicit relationship,” said Narsingh Bhol, SP Ganjam.

“Ganjam SP is on the spot. He is monitoring the situation. We will get hold of the accused persons soon and appropriate action will be taken against them,” said Prem Chandra Choudhury collector
