Brahmagiri ( Puri) , July 27:
Fifty persons including 25 Bol Bom devotees had a narrow escape inside the Chilika lagoon on Sunday as the country boat in which they were travelling -along with a Tata Ace mini truck on board- from Janhikuda ghat to Satapada ghat, capsized near the vessel service jetty at Satapada in Odisha’s Puri district.
However, all aboard the boat were rescued by local people.
Sources said Pandu Pradhan, the driver of the mini truck who was sitting inside the driver’s cabin, sank with the vehicle but he was also fished out safe.
Local people said they have no other option than travel by country boats as the vessel service operated by the government has been stopped. They accused the district administration of remaining a mute spectator despite similar mishaps in the recent past.
