Police today arrested two persons, including a police official’s son, in connection with the blank firing in front of Fakir Mohan College in Odisha’s Balasore district on December 16 last year.
The accused were identified as Jajan Panigrahi, son of Tiring police station’s officer in charge (OIC) Padmalochan Panigrahi, and his friend Papu, reports said.
A gun and a motorcycle have been seized from Papu’s possession, sources said. They have been forwarded to court.
Notably, Jajan, a prime witness in the Khasua murder case, had gone absconding after the blank firing incident.
A case in this regard was registered at the Town police station here.
Jajan has several criminal cases pending against him at Khantapada and Sahadevkhunta police stations, police said.
It may be recalled here that a youth armed with a country made pistol had blank fired six bullets in front of the college at around 10.30 am on December 16.
