Bhubaneswar: Alleging BJD workers and activists indulged in hooliganism during ‘hartal’ today, the youth wing of Odisha BJP will gherao SP offices across the State tomorrow.
“We will gherao all Superintendent of Police (SP) offices tomorrow as the common people were attacked and their vehicles were damaged by BJD workers today during ‘hartal’,” said Tankadhar Tripaty, President of Odisha youth wing of BJP.
According to reports, a lady journalist was manhandled by the agitators near Patia Big Bazaar square when she was going towards office on her two-wheeler this morning.
Meanwhile, BJD said it doesn’t believe in violence during protests. “Neither BJD, nor Chief Minister (who is the president of BJD) support violence; it was an outburst of public dissent over fuel price rise,” said senior BJD leader Debi Prasad Mishra.
The ruling party held a five-hour hartal across the state against the Union government over the steep hike in fuel prices.
