Bhubaneswar: Tension erupted before the office of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) in Odisha capital today as workers of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) reportedly hurled eggs at the office while gheraoing it.
The saffron party workers, alleging BMC’s inefficiency and corruption in the body, staged demonstration in front of the office. They also shouted slogans against Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and BMC Mayor Ananta Narayan Jena.
They later tried to barge into the office by attempting to break barricades during which a scuffle ensued between policemen and the BJP workers.
The workers threw water pouches at the cops, reports said. Over 200 workers have been detained in connection with the incident.
