Bhubaneswar, Aug 5:

To protest against the callousness and inefficiency of the BJD government in Odisha, the BJP has planned to hold demonstrations in all district headquarters across the state from September 15 to 20, informed state in-charge of the party, Arun Singh, here today.

The party has also planned to gherao Odisha Assembly in November with one lakh supporters, he added.

“To wake up this inefficient government from its slumber the BJP will stage demonstrations in all district headquarters from September 15 to 20. We will gherao Assembly with one lakh supporters in November. From here will start the countdown for the fall of the BJD government,” said Singh speaking to reporters.

Speaking of the party’s organizational strength in the state Singh said: “One year back the party had taken a decision to work together and throw out the inefficient government ruling the state. The process is complete; the party has strengthened itself at the grassroots level. Now, BJP with the poor people of the state on its side will take to the path of struggle.”

Singh slammed the BJD for the involvement of its MPs and MLAs in the chit fund scam, ration card scam, shortage of doctors and the deteriorating law and order situation in the state.

“Here Central Ministers are being attacked. BJP workers are being booked under section 307 IPC and sent to jail. Even our party workers are being showered with kicks while they were peacefully protesting. This is highly condemnable. Women are not safe here. There are several complaints of women being subjected to exploitation,” the party in-charge pointed out.

The BJD, on the other hand, has pooh-poohed the BJP’s plans by stating that it is no way going to have any impact on the people of the state.

“BJP is doing nothing in the interest of the state. It is only an attempt to keep itself afloat in the state. It is going to have no impact on the people. It is an exercise to make their presence felt,” said Amar Satpathy BJD spokesperson in his reactions on the BJP’s programmes.
