Bhubaneswar, Feb 25:
Senior BJP leader and Odisha Rajya Pravari of the party Chandan Mitra will be holding a meeting this afternoon with the party’s senior leaders in the state to finalize names of candidates for the remaining Lok Sabha seats that could not be finalized in the earlier meeting, said sources in the BJP.
Moreover, Mitra will hold consultations with senior state leaders on the possible seat sharing with other parties in the state. He would also assess whether such alliances will be beneficial or detrimental to the party’s interest, sources added.
There are reports that the BJP leadership is actively considering forging an alliance with Soumya Ranjan Patnaik’s Ama Odisha Party, Kharavel Swain’s Utkal Bharat and Pyari Mahapatra’s OJM to form a formidable front that can take on the Naveen Patnaik led BJD government with full force.
The principal opposition party, Congress is still undecided on its final list of candidates.
PCC president Jayadev Jena told reporters after his return from Delhi that the PEC has submitted its final list for all the 147 assembly seats to the screening committee which will give its approval in consultation with the Election Committee.
Jena said the final list will be out soon.
