Bhubaneswar, Feb 20:
Senior BJP leader and Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan today expressed apprehensions about the ruling party tampering with the panchayat poll results before its formal announcement on February 25.
“Certain higher rank officers are conspiring to tamper with the poll results. We expect the State Election Commission to intervene in the matter. Some irresponsible officers should not succeed in derailing democracy,” alleged Pradhan.
“In the panchayat elections people have given clear verdict. Despite the ruling party using all means people have voted judiciously,” he added.
Senior BJD leader and state Agriculture Minister Pradeep Maharathy in his reaction on Pradhan’s apprehension has said: “Where is the scope for tampering when it has been widely publicized? Does it cost money to give such statements?”
