Bhubaneswar, July 2:
The Odisha Congress today blamed the BJD and BJP, who are at the helm of affairs in the state and Centre respectively, for the skyrocketing price of essential commodities, which is pinching a hole in the pocket of common man in the state.
“Both BJD and BJP are responsible for the price inflation and increasing prices of essential commodities, including vegetables. If the two governments fail to contain the price rise, Congress will hit the streets in the coming days,” PCC president Jaydev Jena told media persons here.
Hitting out at the Centre for its failure to curb inflation – one of Prime Minister Modi’s key election planks – he asked’ “What stops them from taking action against hoarders and profiteers?”
The PCC president also said that the ruling BJD is developing cold feet about attacking the Modi government for the back to back hike in petroleum products and rail fare hike.
“The BJD government is not raising its voice against the Modi government fearing that Centre will entangle the state government in the chit fund and mining scam. While CBI is already inquiring the chit fund scam in the state, the mining scam is expected to be handed over to CBI,” said Jena.
