In a bid to avoid any untoward incident during Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s visit to Ganjam, the district police today detained nine BJP activists.


According to reports, the saffron party workers were detained from Kukudakhandi and Nimakhandi.

During the one-day visit to Ganjam, the Chief Minister is scheduled to lay foundation stones of several projects and inaugurate Titanium plant near Chhatrapur and Ferrochrome plant of Tata steel at Gopalpur.

Worth mentioning, security has been tightened in the district ahead of Patnaik’s visit apprehending law and order situation after the incident of hurling of egg at a protest meeting of BJP in Pipili allegedly by a BJD worker yesterday.
