BJD youth leader ‘stable’, say doctors

The condition of Yashobanta Parida, the BJD youth wing leader who was shot at in Kamakshanagar on Friday evening, is stable, doctors in the SCB Medical College Hospital in Cuttack said.

“He has not suffered any internal injuries and his vital parameters are normal,” said a doctor.Yashowant Parida BJD

Parida was shot thrice – on his abdomen, chest and hand – near his medicine shop on Friday evening. He was first taken to the Dhenkanal district hospital and then shifted to the SCB Medical College in Cuttack after his condition deteriorated.

Meanwhile, police are interrogating Suresh Panda, the assailant who was overpowered and handed over to the police by the crowd which gathered at the place after hearing the gunshots.

He is being interrogated to find out the motive behind the attack, Dhenkanal SP Manoranjan Mohanty said.
