Maintaining its winning spree, the Biju Janata Dal (BJD), which had registered a massive win in the Assembly and Lok Sabha elections in Odisha in May this year, swept urban local body (ULB) polls in Titlagarh and Bolangir the results of which were announced this afternoon.
Out of a total of 21 wards in Bolangir Municipality, BJD won 15 wards and the Congress won four while the BJP and Independent won one ward each.
The winning BJD councillors in Bolangir are, Narahari Rout, Sarita Das, Upendra Deep, Aswini Kumar Patel, Nutan Sendria, Gitanjali Barad, Mamatarani Jena, Premalata Naik, Sunita Mahana, Lipishree Sai, Ersad Khan, Sujata Das, Sayapir Patra, Jayanti Bariha and Santosini Behera,
The four winning Congress candidates are Gouri Sahu, Soumyadip Sharaf, Akhand Kumar Seth and Milani Sahu.
BJP candidate Pitambara Khamari and Independent candidate Sambhu Nag have been declared as winners.
The BJD also registered a landslide victory in the Titlagarh NAC polls winning 14 out of the total of 15 wards.
The winning BJD candidates in Titlagarh are, Sunil Sahu, Gobardhan Nag, Sarita Behera, Jyoti Behera, Santosini Sunani, Tapaswini Sahu, Rashmita Pradhan, Nityananda Chandan, Baladeb Jal, Sumitra Seth, Banita Jani, Anjana Verma, Yashowant Chhatria and Anita Chandan.
Krushna Chandra Sharaf was the lone winning Congress candidate.
Sources in the State Election Commission (SEC) said the election for the post of chairperson and vice- chairperson of Bolangir and Titlagarh ULBs would be held on July 11 and August 5 respectively.
