Cuttack, Feb 7:

BJD MLA Pramod Mallick was today admitted to the SCB Medical College & Hospital in Odisha’s Cuttack after being allegedly assaulted by BJP workers.

Niali MLA vehicle attacked

The MLA from Niali was allegedly attacked by BJP workers today morning at Balipatna of Tirtol in Jagatsinghpur district while he was on his way to attend the dedication ceremony of IOCL’s Paradip Refinery.

Mallick has lodged an FIR at the Tirtol police station over the incident.

The MLA has alleged in the FIR that on Sunday morning while he was going to attend the inauguration ceremony of IOCL’s Paradip Refinery some people with BJP flags in their hands stopped his vehicle at Balipatna of Tirtol and attacked him.

Mallick has further alleged that BJP workers made him walk for some distance and forced him to shout slogans like ‘Modi zindabad’ and ‘Dharmendra zindabad’.

“BJP has surely directed its workers to assault BJD MLAs. Had it not been so, they would not have attacked my vehicle since it has signage with ‘MLA’ written on it. I have informed senior police officials. After apprising the Chief Minister of the incident action will be taken. I had identified the persons to the IIC while they were going in a rally. The IIC has told me that action will be taken later,” said Mallick.
