Bhubaneswar, Mar 15:

The proposed electoral understanding between the ruling BJD and the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) in two districts has fallen through due to differences over seat sharing, BJD vice president Kalpataru Das announced today.

With the seat arrangement between the two sides shelved, the BJD would now contest all 147 Assembly seats, Das said.

The JMM had asked for six Assembly seats which was not acceptable to the BJD, sources said.

Another source, however, insisted that while BJD was keen on the tie-up, the talks failed because the JMM supremo Sibu Soren put his foot down, saying there can be no truck with the BJD.

There are reports that Sudam Marandi who heads the Odisha unit of JMM may join the BJD soon along with his supporters.
