It was BJD all the way in the elections for chairpersons for the 20 western Odisha ULBs today.
The ruling party managed to get its candidates elected as chairpersons in as many as 17 ULBs. The Congress, BJP and an Independent shared the rest 3 posts.
Interestingly, five BJD candidates got elected unopposed as chairpersons.
Those who were elected unopposed were Mamata Mishra of BJD in Binka NAC, Simantini Nayak of BJD in Sonepur Municipality, Monika Agarwal in Tarabha, Rebati Balua in Kuchinda NAC and Bidyutlata Bag in Kantabanji NAC.
The following is the list of elected chairpersons of the 20 urban local bodies (ULBs), 15 of whom are women.
Kesinga-Gitanjali Bariha (BJD), Kantabanji-Bidyutlata Nag (BJD), Bargarh-Prasant Kumar Behera (BJD), Biramitrapur-Manju Ekka (BJD), Binika-Mamata Mishra (BJD), Padmapur- Sidharth Singh Bariha (BJD), Bhawanipatna-Aditya Nanda (BJD), Sonepur-Simantini Nayak (BJD), Tarabha-Mona Agarwal (BJD), Khariar-Khulana Behera (Independent), Junagarh-Bijaylaxmi Kandapana (BJD), Barpali- Mina Seth (Cong), Kuchinda-Rebati Balua (BJD), Jharsuguda-Harish Ganatra (BJD), Debagarh-Anita Patra (BJD), Khariar Road-Sunita Jain (BJD), Patnagarh-Manas Manjari Panigrahi (BJP), Brajarajnagar-Nandakishore Agarwal (BJD), Sundargarh-Benudhar Tandia (BJD) and Rajgangpur-Sushrita Paikray (BJD).
