Bhubaneswar, Dec 12:
The ruling BJD on Thursday formed a four-member committee for selection of candidates for the ensuing elections for the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) scheduled on January 8.
The meeting, presided over by BJD supremo and chief minister Naveen Patnaik at the Naveen Nivas here, has set three criteria for selection of the candidates.
Candidates who have criminal antecedents would not be considered while allegiance to the party and winning prospects would be given maximum weightage, sources in the party said.
The opposition BJP and Congress have also set similar criteria for selection of candidates for the elections.
