Cuttack: BJP National President Amit Shah today came down heavily on the BJD and Congress alleging that both the parties are two sides of the same coin and have failed to ensure development in Odisha.
Addressing a meeting of party workers at the RMC Field in Kulia, Cuttack, Shah said the people of Odisha trusted the BJD and Congress parties several times in the past but both were unsuccessful in bringing development in the state.
He urged the Odisha people to give five years to the BJP by making it victorious in the upcoming Assembly Polls and promised of making the state number one in the country if the party comes to power in Odisha.
Taking a jibe at the State Government, Shah said, “Odisha government refused to join Ayushman Bharat scheme of the Central Government in Odisha fearing that it might amplify the popularity of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the state.”
“Poor people of Odisha are unable to benefit from the schemes of the Central government because of narrow mindset of Odisha government,” he said
Shah also blamed the Odisha Government for alleged lack of progress in the state. “There are hard working people and resources in Odisha, however, the state is still not prospering. This is because of the Odisha government,” he said.
Remembering Utkala Gauraba Madhusudan Das and hailing his contribution towards the Odia language, Shah took a dig at Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik saying that Odisha is going to witness a CM belonging to the party who can speak Odia.
Shah also targeted the UPA government alleging that it was apathetic towards Odisha while the BJP-led Government has sanctioned highest amount of funds for the state.
“Under the UPA government, the 13th Finance Commission gave only Rs 79,000 crore to Odisha. On the other hand, in the 14th Finance Commission, the BJP-led government gave around Rs 5,13,000 crore for the development of Odisha,” he said.
“Under the leadership of Modi ji, we are working for New Odisha. What is “New Odisha”? Where no one is unemployed, better medical facilities are available and no one is below the poverty line,” he added.
Earlier in the day, Shah visited Satyabhamapur in Cuttack district, the birthplace of Madhusudan Das, and paid floral tributes at the statue of Madhu Babu.
“Fortunate to have visited the birth place of ‘Utkal Gouraba’ Madhusudan Das ji and paid my floral tributes. Madhu Babu’s contribution towards the social & economic upliftment of the people of Odisha is truly great. As a Chintak, patriotism was always at the fore in his creations,” Shah tweeted.
