Bhubaneswar, Mar 27:
Biju Janata Dal President Naveen Patnaik today urged his party leaders to utilise social media in order to take the message of the party and his government to the people of Odisha.
Addressing a workshop of BJD leaders at the Pantha Nivas in Bhubaneswar today, Naveen asked party MLAs, MPS and other office bearers to be active in social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Youtube among others.
Special arrangements had been made at the workshop to open social media accounts for leaders and to train them on various features of the platforms.
“I am glad that we had this party workshop today to acclimatize the MLAs and MPs about social media network which will improve a lot of matters in their respective constituencies,” said Patnaik speaking to reporters after inaugurating the workshop.
It may be mentioned here that Naveen on March 22 held a similar meeting to ask various departments of Odisha Government to take to the social media route to popularise various schemes of the government apart from taking feedback from the public.
The Chief Minister has been batting for usage of social media as a medium of communication after noted technocrat Sam Pitroda took over as the Telecom Advisor of Odisha Government.
