Bhubaneswar, April 19:
Accusing the BJD government in Odisha of virtually taking over the office of the chief electoral officer (CEO), senior BJP leader Bijoy Mohapatra today trained his gun at the private secretary of chief minister Naveen Patbnaik, V Karthikeyan Pandian for ‘managing the election on behalf of ruling party’.
Addressing a press conference at the state BJP office here, Mohapatra minced no words while he demanded a probe by the Election Commission of India into the ‘dubious’ role played by Pandian in the entire poll process, especially the election management of the BJD
“The office of the chief electoral officer (CEO) has been taken over by the ruling party. The government officials, who have stakes in the ruling party, have managed the CEO. The chief minister’s office is functioning as BJD office and the election atmosphere in the state has been vitiated,” said Mohapatra while demanding that the Election Commission appoint a team to probe into the role of the private secretary to the CM.
Accusing that the office of the CEO is has been manipulated at will by Pandian, the senior BJP leader said the BJP will submit a detailed report on the severely compromised election process in Odisha to the Election Commission, exposing the role of certain government officials in executing the evil design of the government.
He also alleged that the ruling party has used several key government officials in the election with a malafide intention.
Pointing a finger at the CEO, Mohapatra said even though a huge amount of cash running to crores and vehicles carrying them had been seized during the elections, the chief election officer had not given any information about the number of cases and names of persons who have been arrested.
Stating that the government machinery is used for the election management, he said the government has also indulged in EVM tampering to ensure the victory of its party candidates in the elections.
