Bhubaneswar, Jan 7:
All India Congress Committee spokesperson and secretary Bhakta Das today expressed regret for engaging in a war of words with Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) president Prasad Harichandan over the selection of Kalahandi district Congress committee president.
Das held a closed door meeting with Harichandan earlier in the day today to discuss the issue. Even though the PCC President refused to comment on the issue, Das attributed the incident to a “fit of rage” and expressed regrets.
“The incident took place because of a communication gap. No matter how big a reformer or organiser I might be, I should not have lost my cool so easily. I thought over the issue later and understood that it might have caused damage to my party. I express regrets for this,” said Das today speaking to reporters.
Notably, Das had told the media in December that he had not been consulted before the name of Kalahandi district president was announced and had threatened to go for a fast-unto-death challenging Harichandan’s decision.
