Bear attack leaves two brothers severely injured in Nuapada

Two brothers sustained serious injuries after being attacked by a wild bear in a forest in Odisha’s Nuapada district today.bear_attack

Two brothers Bharat Bag and Maheswar Bag of Salepada village of Nuagan panchayat under Komna block had gone to the nearby forest today morning to collect firewood. While returning,they were attacked by a wild bear around 7 am, sourecs said.

The younger brother Maheswar who was attacked by the bear first has sustained severe injuries on his left hand which was bitten by the bear.

The bear also attacked the elder brother Bharat when he tried to rescue Maheswar from its grip. He has sustained injuries in both legs.

Some persons  who were also collecting firewood in the forest heard their cry rushed to their aid and chased the bear back into the forest.

The injured brothers were first taken to the Komna PHC for treatment and later shifted to the district headquarters hospital at Nuapada.
