Balasore, Nov 5:
Once estranged couples, Barsa Swony Choudhury and Rajashree Mohanty today moved a local court in Odisha’s Balasore to withdraw the divorce case as the duo has announced their reunion after high drama.
Former minister and five-time Basta MLA Raghunath Mohanty’s son Rajashree and his wife Barsa today filed a petition at the District Family Court to withdraw the divorce case filed by Rajashree on February 18 last year.
The couple appeared before Balasore Family Court Judge Srikant Mishra seeking withdrawal of the case as the differences have been amicable resolved between them. Notably, the cases filed at High Court by the two parties have already been withdrawn.
The couple had deposed before the Oath Commissioner of Orissa High Court to submit an affidavit seeking withdrawal of cases in June this year.
It may be recalled that the duo had announced their reunion at a posh hotel in Odisha capital on May 25 this year in a press conference putting an end to the over three-year bitter battle between the two families over alleged dowry torture.
Barsa had alleged that former Minister Raghunath Mohanty and his family had demanded Rs 25 lakh and a vehicle as dowry but when she denied to give in to their demands, they tortured her.
After Barsa’s police complaint, Crime Branch had arrested Raghunath Mohanty and his wife Pritilata from an apartment in Kolkata on March 30, 2013 where they were hiding to evade arrest.
