Balasore, Feb 4:
Barsa Swony Choudhury, estranged wife of Rajashree Mohanty (son of former Odisha Minister Raghunath Mohanty) accepted monthly interim maintenance allowance of Rs 25,000 from the Balasore family court.
As per the court’s directive Rajashree through his lawyer had deposited the monthly maintenance allowance with the court in Barsa Swony dowry torture case.
“Rajashree has given this amount for the month of January. Arrears will be paid to Barsa Swony at a later date,” said Harekrushna Das, Rajashree’s lawyer.
“Today was the date under section 125 in the maintenance case,” said Barsa Swony.
However, Rajashree was not present in the court citing health reasons.
The Balasore family court Thursday ordered Rajashree Mohanty to pay her a monthly interim maintenance allowance of Rs 25,000 on January 14.
Notably, Barsa Swony had filed a case on September 26, 2013 in the Balasore family court seeking maintenance. The trial, however, was delayed as Rajashree was not accepting the notices sent by the court.
On the other hand, Rajashree had filed for divorce in the same court on March 24 last year; the case was admitted on March 30 last year.
Barsa Swony has also filed a case of domestic violence against Rajashree.
