Bargarh, Mar 9:

Amidst outrage by opposition Congress and BJP over Bargarh farmer’s suicide in Odisha, Collector and SP visited Hadu Bagarti’s house at Kendapalli village in the district for fresh probe into suicide case today.

Bargarh Collector accompanied by SP reached Bagarti’s house and discussed with the victim’s family members after Odisha agriculture minister Pradeep Maharathy ordered reprobe into the suicide of the farmer following the family termed the government’s statement on suicide false.

After meeting Bagarti’s family the Collector said that he will submit the report to Home, Agriculture departments and SRC within two days.

On the other hand, the BJP and Congress alleged that the government has been presenting false reports on farmer suicide in Odisha.

Minister Maharathy had informed the House that as per Collector report, the death of Hadu Bagarti alias Khainu was due to family dispute not due to crop loss or debt burden. He told the media that Bagarti had consumed pesticide due to quarrel between him and his wife. The family later objected the statement terming it false. They said that not a single official had visited their house following death of Bagarti.
