Bargarh, Dec 29:
Hrusikesh Bhoi, the person who plays the character of King Kansa in Bargarh Dhanu Jatra, has apologised for appearing in Kansa attire at the Dharmasala Mahotsav in Odisha’s Jajpur district.
Bargarh Additional District Magistrate Bijay Kumar Rath had yesterday issued a show cause notice to Bhoi seeking his reply within two days in this regard.
As per tradition, a person playing the larger than life character shouldn’t appear or perform at any other platform with the attire.
Violating it, Bhoi acted as King Kansa at the Dharmasala Mahotsav along with Nandighosh Mohapatra, who plays the character of the king’s minister in Dhanu Jatra.
“I have committed a mistake for which I seek unconditional apology. I will not play the character elsewhere in future. I will adhere to the decision taken by the Dhanu Jatra committee,” Bhoi said.
He was invited to Dharmasala Mahotsav for felicitation, Bhoi added.
