Cuttack, Oct 18:
Smiles are back on the faces of the cricket lovers in Odisha as the Board of Cricket for Control in India (BCCI) today announced that the first one-day international match between India and Sri Lanka would be played at Barabati stadium in Cuttack on November 2.
Briefing the media, secretary of Odisha Cricket Association (OCA ) Asirbad Behera said the BCCI has allotted the first match of the five-ODI series to Odisha to be played at Barabati Stadium.
He said the online sale of tickets would begin tomorrow while the remaining tickets would be sold at the counters of the stadium on October 30 and 31.
“As we had already began the preparation of the pitch and outfield of the stadium for the T20 match between India and West Indies scheduled on October 22, preparation for the one-day match between India and Sri Lanka would be completed ahead of the schedule”, Behera informed.
It may be mentioned that the T20 match between India and West Indies was cancelled after the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) called off the tour midway yesterday following the ongoing payment structure dispute with the West Indies Players’ Association (WIPA).
Following the cancellation of the tour, the BCCI invited the Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) yesterday to play five match one-day series to which the latter agreed.
