Bhubaneswar, Jun 3:
The Commissionerate Police today recovered the body of a bank manager from a hotel in Ashok Nagar in Odisha’s capital city.
The Capital police said the deceased, Soumya Ranjan Nayak of Bhadrak, was staying in Arya Palace hotel here from May 31.
The police added Nayak’s body was found hanging from the ceiling fan in Room No 300 of the hotel, police sources said.
The body was sent to Capital Hospital here for an autopsy.
“Nayak’s family members said that he was working with Indian Bank in Madurai and that the administration had suspended him on charges of corruption. They even said a complaint against him was lodged at a police station in Madurai,” Inspector-in-charge of Capital police station MR Garanaik said.
“As of now, we don’t have any documents to corroborate their claims. A U/D (unnatural death) case has been registered and we are investigating the matter,” he added.
