Baby girl drowns in nullah in Odisha’s Sundargarh

A one and a half-year old girl child died after drowning in a nallah under Lahunipada police station of Odisha’s Sundargarh district on Friday afternoon. Lahunipada police have seized body of the infant on Friday evening.


Sources said Asma Barla, daughter of Nirmal Barla, a resident of Bankabazar, Bhangapulia Bhuiyansahi under Lahunipada police station of Sundargarh district, was playing with some other kids nearby a nallah outside her house at around 2 pm on Friday afternoon when she suddenly fell in the nallah and drowned.

Locals immediately rescued the  girl from water, but she was found dead. After getting information, Lahunipada police reached the spot on Friday evening and seized the body of the girl.

“We have registered an unnatural death case. We will conduct the post-mortem of the deceased girl child on Saturday,” said SK Meher, Sub Inspector, Lahunipada police station.
