Bhubaneswar, Sep 27:
Soon after being questioned by the CBI in connection with his financial dealings with the tainted AT group today, Odisha Jan Morcha (OJM) secretary general Jagneswar Babu was all praise for the investigation being carried out by the central agency in the multi-crore chit fund scam in the state.
“The CBI is conducting its investigations in a scientific manner,” Jagneswar told reporters after his one and half hour long interrogation by the CBI for his alleged links with the Artha Tatwa (AT) Group today.
Babu’s praises comes a day after former advocate general Ashok Mohanty accused the central investigating agency of partiality, witch hunting, publicity seeking and worse.
The OJM secretary general was interrogated about the Rs 2 crore loan taken from the AT Cooperative Society by the Bijayananda Sugar Mill of which he was the president at that time.
“I had taken the loan on behalf of Bijayananda Sugar Mill of which I was the president then. Sethy had provided the loan on behalf of the AT Cooperative Society. I had not taken the loan for the sugar mill from a chit fund company. The cooperative society was legally registered with the government,” said Jagneswar.
The CBI had raided the Balangir house of Jagneswar in this connection last month.
“They did not find any document which indicated my personal involvement during the raid,”Babu said.
Denying any personal link with AT Group, Jagneswar said: “I have no personal link with the AT Group”
