Suspected Maoists slit villager’s throat in Odisha

In a barbaric act suspected Maoists have killed a villager by slitting his throat in Nirugundi village under Parsali panchayat of Kalyansingpur block in Odisha’s Rayagada district, reports said.

The Red rebels allegedly killed the villager identified as Shyam Kadraka suspecting him to be a police informer, reports added.

Earlier, on Tuesday last Maoists had blasted a landmine at Lakhpadar village near Niyamgiri hills in the same district. The blast had occurred during combing operations by security personnel in the area.

However, no security personnel was either killed or injured in the blast.

Following the blast Maoists and security personnel had exchanged fire for about 45 minutes.

Security personnel had fired 42 rounds during the operation. Though Maoists had managed to escape, security personnel had seized five live cartridges and one tiffin bomb from the spot.
