Bhubaneswar, Dec 26:

BJB Autonomous College in Odisha capital was today declared sine die as tension erupted over attack on students by some outsiders last evening.

The college authorities declared the educational institution sine die till December 30 and asked students to vacate hostels immediately, sources said.

According to reports, some non-students attacked three students with bamboo sticks at around 7 pm yesterday when the latter were standing near Ambedkar Hostel on the college premises.

One of the victims sustained critical injuries and was admitted to Capital Hospital here.

Protesting the incident, students of the college had staged a road blockade near Kalpana Square yesterday demanding arrest of the attackers. As per eyewitnesses, nephew of a corporator was involved in the attack.

Uproar over the incident continued today as students blocked road again by burning tyres. They were lifted from the spot by cops following which they resorted to vandalisation on the college premises.

Eventually, College Principal Mohammed Nawaz Hasan declared the college sine die.

Two platoons of police force have been deployed in the campus.
